27th Annual Regina Food Bank Food Drive

October 18, Regina Food Bank

From October 17th, 6pm until October 19th, 6pm, the 27th Annual Food Drive will take place to help raise much needed food items for those less fortunate in our community. Presented  by Mosaic.

Once again this year the Regina Food Bank is in friendly competition with the cities of Halifax, Victoria, Waterloo, New Market and Prince Albert to see which of these communities can raise the most food through their respective food drives. All these communities will be the real winners through working together to help ensure no one goes hungry.

Rising rents and cost of living, coupled with children not having access to school breakfast and lunch programs, will put additional pressure on already tight budgets. This means those kids will be eating more meals at home and may require some level of childcare depending on their age. Include the increases we traditionally see on utility costs due to winter heating, and we have a recipe for disaster for the working poor and those on fixed incomes.

This year, Regina will be raising the bar and making every effort to once again achieve a fantastic result for those less fortunate in our community, and, at the same time, attempt to keep our title for the “Great Canadian Food Fight” for raising non-perishable food products during the 27th Annual Food Drive.

How you can help:

Watch for your Food Drive donation bag arriving October 9th in the Sunday Post Newspaper.  Fill the bag throughout the week with non-perishable food items, and leave it on your door step for pick up Saturday October 18th.  Local youth, community groups and individuals will be going door to door to collect these items starting at 9:30am Saturday Morning.

Visit your local Sherwood Co-op, Regina Safeway, Superstore, Extra Foods or Sobeys store and purchase a pre-made hamper of other non-perishable items from our top ten most wanted items and drop them in the collection bin

Volunteer your time to help out during the Food Drive.  We have many opportunities available to fit a wide variety of schedules.

Make a financial donation to the Food Drive, using our new Virtual Food Drive powered by Sherwood Co-op donation page to choose which products you would like to purchase.
