Greatest Hits - The JUNO Tour of Canadian Art
April 12, 10:00 AM, Mackenzie Art Gallery
The MacKenzie Art Gallery is partnering with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and the 2013 JUNO Awards to bring the JUNO Tour of Canadian Art to Regina. The exhibition features works by Canadian artists from the Permanent Collection that have been selected by past JUNO Award winner and nominees - as well as current nominees. The JUNO Tour of Canadian Art has previously been featured at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. The MacKenzie will be the first gallery in Western Canada to host this exhibit. Members of Canadian bands, Stars, Metric, Arkells, Whitehorse, Sarah Slean, Tegan and Sara, Doc Walker and Emerson Drive have explored the MacKenzie Vault, home to more than 4,000 works of art in the Permanent Collection. After selecting a piece band members record a video capturing their response to the art and choose one of their own songs they feel connect to the work. The exhibit will include an interactive iPad featuring the video responses and music of each band.
Regina's Brandt Centre will host the 2013 JUNO Awards on Sunday, April 21, 2
