Power/Animals by Marie Olinik

February 23, 9:00 AM, Creative City Centre

Opening Reception, Wednesday, February 24, 5 pm to 8 pm

Exhibition on display February 23 to April 2, 2016

Power/Animals features paintings by Regina artist Marie Olinik. These paintings explore the imagined interactions between animals and power transmission towers, expressing aggression, irritation or mere curiosity as both attempt to exist in an altered landscape. The vibrant colours of these paintings are layered upon dark grey canvases with a cracked earth texture combining local soil and black gesso.

Marie Olinik grew up on a farm outside of Kelliher, Saskatchewan, graduating with a BFA from the University of Regina in 2003. She is an administrative assistant in the Curatorial area of the MacKenzie Art Gallery and has assisted almost every exhibition for the last nine years.

Join us on Wednesday, February 24th for our opening reception.  Come by after work, have a drink and some delicious snacks and meet the artist!
