Grant Writing Workshop

March 2, 7:00 PM, Creative City Centre

Grant Writing Workshop, Wednesday, March 2, 2016
◾7 pm to 9:30 pm, 2nd Floor (no elevator)
◾$25 plus GST in advance or $35 plus GST at the door (very limited seating, advance registration recommended)

This 3 hour long workshop will cover the do’s and don’ts of good grant writing.  It will be facilitated by Marian Donnelly, who has been writing grant applications for over 30 years in a variety of municipal, provincial and federal funding programs. While the only guarantee in the world of grant writing is that “if you don’t apply, you won’t get anything”, there are definitely some things you can do to increase your chances of success.

Marian has offered this workshop in a number of communities across Saskatchewan, but this is the first time it’s been offered at the Creative City Centre.  Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to improve your grant writing skills, especially before the April deadlines!  Advance registration is $25 plus $1.25 GST, plus a $1.25 service charge if purchased online, or $35 plus GST at the door.  We highly recommend advance registration, as seating is very limited.

About Marian Donnelly:

Marian has been working in the cultural sector since 1975, when she was hired by Star Kommand Productions (a concert production and artist management company based in Regina and later Winnipeg).  From her early days as a concert promoter and artist manager, she gained considerable experience in producing and marketing concerts, festivals, award shows and conferences.  After living and working in Winnipeg, Toronto and Vancouver as a self-employed artist manager, she returned to Regina in 1996 to take the helm at SaskMusic, the non-profit provincial recording industry association.  During her tenure at SaskMusic, she produced the Flatland Music Festival for five years and established SaskMusic as a leader in professional development in the Canadian music industry.  She served as the Chair of the National Advisory Board for FACTOR and was the founder of the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations.  She also served as a Cultural Industries Consultant for the Province of Saskatchewan; the General Manager at Globe Theatre; the CEO and founder of the Creative City Centre; and as the Provincial Coordinator for Culture Days.  She also works as an arts consultant developing strategic plans for non-profit organizations across Canada, including the Atlantic Presenters Association, the Canadian Gospel Music Association, the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative and Sakewewak First Nations Artist Collective, among many others.  She wrote a Municipal Cultural Plan for the City of Yorkton and was an associate consultant in the development of a Cultural Plan for the City of Saskatoon.  More recently, she helped produce the RCMP Charity Ball Gala in support of Creative Kids in May 2014, and was a senior advisor to the Cultural Department of the North American Indigenous Games 2014, helping to oversee the opening and closing ceremonies, the Cultural Village and the International Indigenous Artists Program.  Marian mentors hundreds of emerging artists and arts administrators,  teaches workshops and courses in non-profit management, and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Regina.
