Monday Night Jazz & Blues - The Jeff Mertick Band

Jeff Mertick has been a working musician/songwriter/performer in Regina for more than 15 years. He has played for crowds at cafes and festivals throughout the Saskatchewan/Alberta area. Known also for his work with King Street Healers, has enjoyed the opportunity of opening for Wide Mouth Mason as well as the New Meanies. He has played the annual Ness Creek Music Festival, Flatland Music Festival and the Mid-Winter Blues Festival. Jeff was responsible for composing and recording the "Red Beard Blues" theme song featured regularly on Community Radio 91.3fm. and hosted his own show Sounds of the Inner City also featured on CJTR. Currently, The Jeff Mertick Band is gearing up for their 2011 release "Steppin' Stone." This is their second release as a group. The Band includes: Andy Siljer on drums; Patrick Andrews on bass; Carter Powley on saxophone, keyboard, and flute; featuring Joel Tiefenbach on trombone; and Mateo Aguilar on percussion. They had the great privilege of working with Khanida Taylor and George Taylor (of Stepchyle ), on the Album for the Track “The Ghetto Gets to You”. They also had the unforgettable opportunity to open for blues man Sonny Rhodes. They have opened for Canadian acts Nandidi Onukulu and Madagaskar Slim at the Mid-Winter Blues Festival 2007. Jeff is a fervent supporter of the Regina live music scene; sharing the stage with Drew Bilboe of Gypsy Mobile, Dan Siljer and Jack Semple. Jeff and the Band will always continue to contribute to the musical environment of the people around them, and to any who continue to show an interest in there distinctive talents.
