2015 U19 Boys Canadian Rugby Championships

Tourism Regina, a division of Regina Regional Opportunities Commission (RROC),  and the Saskatchewan Rugby Union (SRU) announced that Regina will host the 2015 Under 19 (U19) Boys Canadian Rugby Championships, taking place July 15 -19th.

The Tournament will be hosted by the Highlanders Rugby Football Club (HRFC) and Regina Rage Women’s Rugby Club. The tournament itself will be managed by an organizing committee made up of members within various provincial and club leadership roles.

“This event is the perfect opportunity for our country to showcase the finest of our upcoming Canadian rugby talent, as well as to recognize Regina, Saskatchewan as an ideal venue for hosting future sporting tournaments such as these”, said Jordan Astrope, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Rugby Union.

Grant Cranfield, President of the Highlanders Rugby Football Club, added, “this is great news for Rugby in Regina and for the city itself.  We look forward to hosting this national sporting event which will showcase the future stars of Canadian rugby.  There are exciting times ahead in 2015”.

Regina boasts a strong record for hosting successful national and international sporting events.  “We are pleased that the sporting community is recognizing Regina as a true destination for national events,” said Sandra Jackle, Special Event Consultant for Tourism Regina. “We look forward to working with the SRU on this prestigious event.”

Regina’s first-rate facilities, including quality rugby pitches and upgraded clubhouse and park, accommodations and attractions will ensure that all athletes, spectators and visitors have a unique and memorable experience.
