Fernando Varela - A Live Television Extravaganza

May 12, 7:30 PM, Conexus Arts Centre

World-renowned tenor and "America's Got Talent" finalist Fernando Varela will be performing live for television broadcast on Thursday, May 12th, 2016 at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina.

Varela will be accompanied by members of the Regina Symphony Orchestra as well as the Halcyon Choir, and some surprise guests.
Varela is known for his dedication to children.  He is a spokesperson for ChildFund and uses his passion for music to make a positive difference in many children’s lives. A portion of the event’s tickets and proceeds will be in support of Hope’s Homes.

Hope’s Home is named in memory of Hope Dawn Marie, who lived her short life of 10 months in the hospital.  It was founded to offer a variety of services for families and caregivers to provide the necessary care for children with complex medical needs and their siblings. Hope’s Home provides Daycare, Supportive Living and Transition Care

You will be hearing a lot more from that guy, I guarantee you!” David Foster

Varela’s amazing climb on NBC's #1 summer show "America's Got Talent" in 2013, made way for a year highlighted by debut performances with the National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall in New York City and singing for President Barack Obama at The White House. Varela has performed with Barbra Streisand, Lionel Richie, Neil Diamond, Babyface, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban, Seal and many more. He has drawn critical acclaim while touring the world both on his own and with 16 time Grammy winner, music legend David Foster. Over the course of his career, he has performed in over 16 fully staged operas, hundreds of concerts and in 31 countries around the world.  Varela is currently on a 29 concert tour of Europe through late December 2015, co-starring with such luminaries as Gavin DeGraw, Natalie Imbruglia and The Beach Boys.

Varela’s performance at the Conexus Arts Centre is part of a “live-to-tape” TV documentary project showcasing the singer’s remarkable success story. The TV show’s producers successfully applied to Creative Saskatchewan’s Screen Based Media Production grant program. “We’re thrilled that our support for a screen based media production also means a fantastic live music experience for Saskatchewan audiences,” said JP Ellson, CEO of Creative Saskatchewan.
