The Trews - Rise in the Wake Tour

December 3, 8:00 PM, Casino Regina Show Lounge

Rock - The band that would eventually become The Trews was formed in high school in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. In 2002, the band won a rock search contest which would prove to be their big break as they soon landed a recording contract with Sony BMG Canada. The release of their first full-length CD, House of Ill Fame, was released in 2003 and featured the singles “Not Ready to Go”, “Tired of Waiting” and “Fleeting Trust”. “Not Ready to Go” hit #1 on Canadian rock radio and was the most played song of 2004 in that format. The band was nominated as New Group of the Year at the 2004 Juno Awards and “Not Ready to Go” was nominated as Single of the Year in 2005.

They wasted no time piling success on top of success, watching their stature grow with multiple hit singles and an incomparable live show, courting exhaustion while they fanned out across the world.

The tensions were audible on 2008’s No Time for Later. The band’s third album was its most accomplished and satisfying, but emerged uptight and dark. Not insignificantly, the second single was called “Paranoid Freak”.  They were offered the Tragically Hip’s fabled Bathouse Recording Studio and a couple months later had a new album – “Hope and Ruin”. If the Trews were tired when they walked into the Bathouse, they were rejuvenated by the time they walked out, having found hope in ruin.

Songs: “Not Ready to Go”, “Tired of Waiting”, “Poor Ol' Broken Hearted Me”, “Hold Me In Your Arms”, “Paranoid Freak”, “Man of Two Minds”, “Fleeting Trust”, “So She's Leaving”, “Yearning” & “Hope and Ruin”.
