ALT - Unit 4: Once you are Working

Program Overview:
In this class participants will learn about and practice strategies for maintaining employment in Saskatchewan. They learn more about specific workplace procedures, appropriate communication strategies in general and in difficult situations. They also explore professional development opportunities and appropriate ways to change or leave a job. The class will also focus on communicative advanced English competencies.
Program Highlights:
- Workplace procedures: workplace specific expectations, time management, prioritizing work assignments, project management, forms and reports, and performance appraisals
- Contributing effectively: formal presentations, presenting ideas, writing reports, kinds of meetings, meeting protocols
- Ongoing professional development: professional development and on-the-job training
- Changing jobs: changes in employment, resignations, firing, internal transfers, and references for future employment
Eligibility Requirements:
The program is accessible to clients who:
Are at least 18 years of age and are legally eligible to work
Have been in Canada for 8 years or less since the date of first arrival
English requirement for this workshop is Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7-8
