In The Mood For Peace Concert

Two shows of the concert ‘In the Mood for Peace’ are planned to be held at the Heritage Centre in Regina Saskatchewan February 7, 2016. Show times are 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.

In the Mood for Peace is adapted for each audience. It tells the story of Mcpl. Mark Isfeld and the Izzy Doll phenomenon through stories, original songs and videos. Many of the photos in the videos were taken by Mark. Other stories include Veteran Peacekeeper Billy Willbond who started ICROSS Canada, a poem written by Peacekeeper Jeffery Walsh who was killed in Afghanistan in 2006, Boomer Caps and Boomer’s legacy and Canada’s role in the elimination of anti-personnel landmines.

The objective of this event is to raise awareness about our Peacekeepers, their sacrifices and that of their families.

This performance educates. It has a lasting impact on the audience and keeps alive the memory of Peacekeeper Mcpl Mark Isfeld and that of several other Peacekeepers and their families. The concert also talks about post-traumatic stress disorder that plaques soldiers and teaches the audience about the amazing facts surrounding Boomer’s Legacy. As well this show shines a light on the anti-personnel landmine problem that still exists today.
There are meaningful messages in the show that audiences take away and can use in their lives:

1) Do what you can with what you have
2) No matter what your political viewpoint, support our troops
3) We are not alone; telling our stories builds empathy and understanding
4) Peace is not free.

This concert educates the audience of all ages about the sacrifices of our Peacekeepers and their families. Many have said this concert has made them more aware of the role of our Peacekeeper. Some have said that the Isfeld family story challenged their viewpoint of soldiers in a positive way. This concert emotionally connects the audience as they relate to the siblings and parents of our fallen. This concert inspires a deeper appreciation for our Peacekeepers and their roles and it is the objective of this project.
