Mudd Sweat and Tears

September 24, 10:00 AM, Beavercreek Ranch & Horse Centre

Mudd, Sweat, & Tears, a national obstacle course that pushes participants to their brink on a five or 10-kilometre course, has returned to Beaver Creek Ranch for the second consecutive year.

“The Mudd, Sweat, and Tears concept made a big splash in the Regina area last year,” said Mayor Michael Fougere. “Visitors can once again enjoy all that the city has to offer before pitting themselves against the gritty obstacles that the Lumsden valley has to offer.”

Founded by Adventure Architects, a professional sports marketing and event management company, the race is a one day spectator-friendly event that challenges runners with a number of obstacles including: ropes, climbing walls, steep ascents, ice baths and mud. The goal of the race is to finish.

This year participants can expect new challenges such as barb wire obstacles, lifting and carrying various new objects, and electrified crawls. Should the participant choose to forego a particular obstacle and take a penalty, they’ll have to complete 15 burpees, 15 pushups, and 15 squats before moving on.

“Mudd, Sweat & Tears is just one example of the increasing number of unique activities available to both residents and visitors in the Regina region.  We are proud to support the growth of the event as it returns for a second straight year, said CEO and President of Tourism Regina, John Lee. “We wish all of the participants the best of luck as they prepare to tackle all of the obstacles that the event has to offer,” Race director John Reed said last year’s event was a success, but they did experience some poor climate weather—although it didn’t stop the runners for jumping in head first. This year, the race has been moved to an earlier date in the season to try and avoid the colder temperatures.

“We're very excited to be back in Regina this year. We're looking forward to presenting new obstacles and a new course with lots of twists and turns, the beautiful big sky of the Qu’Appelle Valley and the great energy of the Saskatchewan racers,” said Reed.

Online registration closes Sept. 22.  You can register here.
