Diamond Girls

Throughout our 50th anniversary the primary goal of the SSHF is to celebrate our inductees and showcase their back stories and accomplishments for the people of Saskatchewan. One very unique opportunity presented itself when Menagerie Productions and playwright, Maureen Ulrich, proposed a one-act, one-woman play featuring the Saskatchewan connection to the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. With the support of Softball Saskatchewan, Women in Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation, and Saskatchewan Lotteries the project has become a reality. As with the majority of creative projects, changes are being encountered throughout the development process. Since the release of our February/March 2016 edition of For the Record, there have been a number of changes to the previously announced performance information.

We are very excited to announce that Malia Becker has been chosen as our actress. Malia has a very impressive acting resume which includes performances in numerous Globe Theatre productions, such as All Shook Up and Mary Poppins. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Diamond Girls team.

“This is an amazing opportunity,” said the 27-year-old Regina actress. “I love the movie A League of Their Own, I love this script, and I love these Saskatchewan women.”

This is a Matinee performance, with Doors Opening at 1:30PM and the Performance starting at 2PM. Stay tuned for details about pre- and post-show festivities!

Tickets to the June 28th performance at Artesian SOLD OUT, so be sure to get your tickets early! To purchase your tickets please call 306-780-9232 or email sshf@sshfm.com.
