The Lay Awakes

December 1, 6:00 PM, Artesian on 13th

Regina, SK – Artesian Presents is proud to have The Lay Awakes appearing on Thursday, December 1st at 8:00PM. The duo is touring western Canada to celebrate the launch of their self-titled debut, an intimate and intense acoustic-pop album featuring all original songs. Local cellist Thomas Gadd opens the show.

THE LAY AWAKES self-titled debut EP is intimate and tense, featuring original acoustic-pop songs, including the award-winning “Great Divide” (SongwriterUniverse Song of the Month). Recorded in Brooklyn, and produced by the up and coming Jeremy McDonald (Kevin Garrett’s Mellow Drama, The Welcome Wagon’s A Work Of Love In Progress), the album captures and shapes the sound of this songwriting duo at a promising moment.

ANNA (piano, vocals) has roots in rural Manitoba, but grew up in various parts of Canada and the US. Her musical beginnings trace back to classical piano studies. After studying music at Trinity Western University and composition at New York University, Anna released a solo album in 2013, toured both in Canada and the US, and most notably opened for Paul Simon at New York’s Beacon Theater.

PATRICK (guitar, vocals) was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and grew up in Fergus, Ontario. His music lineage goes back to the family campfire and songbook. Often with his guitar in tow, Patrick spent many years representing Canada internationally in wheelchair basketball and is a three-time Paralympic gold medalist.

THOMAS GADD has been playing cello for most of his life, and has performed on three continents.  He is active as a soloist and a collaborator, at home playing music from Bach to Bill Evans to the Beatles.

The Artesian is located at 2627 13th Avenue, at the corner of Angus and 13th. Doors will open at 7:30PM. The show gets underway at 8:00PM. This is an All Ages show. Tickets are $15 in Advance or $20 at the Door.
