Canada Day

2016 Marks the 51st Anniversary of the Canadian Flag

On February 15, 1965, at the stroke of noon, the new Maple Leaf flag was raised as the crowd sang the national anthem O Canada followed by the royal anthem God Save The Queen.  Governor General Georges Vanier and Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson and members of the Cabinet joined thousands Canadians for the official ceremony inaugurating the new Canadian flag on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.  This year the Regina Canada Day Committee in partnership with the Provincial Capital Commission, Tourism Saskatchewan, Tourism Regina and Wascana Centre Authority are planning events to celebrate this historical event.
