Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers The Wring’er Out Tour

October 14, 8:00 PM, Casino Regina Show Lounge

In 1983 Ray Johnson, Wayne Chaulk and Kevin Blackmore met. Having spent time playing for enjoyment, the trio found themselves in the summer of '85 playing a 10 day stint at the Newfoundland and Labrador pavilion of Toronto Caravan. They were part of an effort which won Caravan's Best Entertainment award. From there things grew so that their weekends got cluttered doing concerts and increasingly summers were taken up with touring. By 1987 they abandoned all previous occupations and collectively 'went at it'! The trio has toured throughout Canada in every province and territory for the last thirty plus years.

The live show is an amalgam of original songs, folk traditional Newfoundland songs, skits, monologues and recitations – in the style of an old fashioned concert. Their musical instruments are accordions, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, whistles, garbage bags, juice cans, Frisbees and anything else that can be used for effect. There are four good voices on stage and the blending of these voices to create harmony is one of their strong points. The show moves along in an undulating emotional wave that is sometimes hilarious, gut wrenching, reflective, serious, and larmoyant. Pain killers may be needed for sore jaws.

Songs: “Sarah”, “Saltwater Joys”, “Is You 'Appy?”, “Chainsaw Earle”, ‘Goin' Up with Brudder”, and “The Pits & Song for Newfoundland”.

Tickets on sale March 18 for Players Club Members, March 20 for general public.
